Our Story

The University Place Community Organization (UPCO) is a non-profit organization devoted to the preservation of the historic and residential character of the neighborhood, the promotion of better facilities and services to meet the needs of the residents of the community, the improvement of the physical appearance of the neighborhood, aiding in the determination of needs and priorities regarding development, and the education of the public on subjects useful and beneficial to the community.

UPCO does a variety of projects throughout the year to make University Place a great place to live. We are active in cleaning the UPCO Park; host an annual Easter egg hunt, neighborhood celebration (UNI Days) and the biannual cleanup of Dead Man’s Run with UNL and NWU; and recognize beautiful homes and yards throughout our neighborhood. Members also actively participate in regular community meetings such as the Mayor’s Roundtable, Lincoln Policy Network, and monthly meetings with our city council representative.

UPCO Board meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at 5:30 pm - but the location may change! Meetings are currently on zoom - check out the Home or Event Page for the link. These meetings are open to the public and feature updates from various entities from within our community, crime updates from LPD and a briefing on the community and political meetings our members have attended. Your attendance is highly encouraged and welcomed!
